Description : FIeld demonstrations of innovative remediation techniques (notably NICOLE Innovation Award). Companies will demonstrate their technology in Liège and explain improvements and developments. In the field, attendees will meet the companies, with people, and technologies in action. A specific call will be launched via the website to select the companies that can demonstrate innovative techniques on site.

Wallonia meets AquaConSoil

Speakers: Arnaud Peters, (historian), Valérie Depaye (Erigès, Seraing's Masterplan), Olivier Decocq (Duferco Wallonie), Olivier Burton (DEME group)

Description: A series of presentations (a historian tracing Wallonia's industrial history, a representative of the Minister of the Economy to explain how the Walloon Region has organized the activation of the reconversion of large strategic brownfield sites, a representative of the city presenting the city's redevelopment Masterplan, and a representative of DEME-Group to present the company's strategy for brownfield redevelopment projects, and the Duferco Wallonie site in Sclessin, which is one of the pilot sites of the European IASIS project.

Blégny Mine

Description: Île aux Corsaires is a former industrial site belonging to UmiCore (zinc production company). Its name derives from the children who once played pirates here. Today, the site abounds in highly specific flora, adapted to soils enriched with heavy metals. Blegny-Mine is one of the four authentic coal mines in Europe with underground galleries accessible for the visitors through the original shaft. Equipped with a jacket and a helmet, take the mining cage down to the galleries located - 30 and - 60 metres below the ground level to understand how coal was extracted.
