When Art meets Science
From April 10 to August 24, 2025
Waste2Bio has teamed up with visual artist Caroline Le Méhauté for her installation-performance Tellus Project created in collaboration with choreographer Isabella Soupart. The project invites us to rethink our relationship with the living and to question our practices through art.
Based on the observation that 75% of our planet's soil is now polluted, Caroline Le Méhauté chose to work with contaminated excavated soil. Tellus Project explores phytomanagement remediation, a gentle method of using plants to fix or degrade pollutants in soil. Beyond the symbolic act, this artistic creation participates in "Care", promoting the resilience of living organisms.
In this performance, dancers interact with polluted soil, shaping, transforming and sculpting it, in a test of physical and rhythmic endurance. The audience is invited to share in this unique and hypnotic experience, each defining their own observation time.
Tellus Project will be on show at the Centrale for Contemporary Art, Brussels, from April 10 to August 24, 2025.
Biographies
Caroline Le Méhauté
Born in Toulouse in 1982, Caroline Le Méhauté is a visual artist who lives and works between Brussels and Toulouse. She is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Marseille and holds a Master's degree in Visual Arts, with a specialization in art semiotics, from the Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès.
Her artistic work explores themes linked to ontology, topology and metaphysics, creating works that question our perception of existence and the environment. She has participated in international exhibitions, including the Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d'Europe et de la Méditerranée in Italy, and has exhibited at the Musée National du Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.
Isabella Soupart
Isabella Soupart is a Belgian choreographer, dancer, director and visual artist of Polish-Ukrainian origin. She came to public attention through her roles in the films Le Fils by the Dardenne brothers and Madonnen by Maria Speth, in which she starred alongside Olivier Gourmet and Sandra Hüller.
Trained in classical and contemporary dance, Isabella Soupart also studied the art of speech and movement at the Kleine Academie in Brussels, following a course inspired by Jacques Lecoq. Her artistic work transcends the boundaries between dance, theater, visual arts and film, creating multidisciplinary works that question the human condition and our relationship with the world.
