A look back at a major international event in the field of sustainable soil, sediment and water management, held in Liège from June 16 to 20, 2025, at the Palais des Congrès. Organized by Waste2Bio in collaboration with Deltares and with the support of the Walloon Region, the event brought together some 550 professionals from the four corners of the globe.

The aim of the event was to exchange ideas: researchers, engineers, political decision-makers, NGO representatives and young professionals came together to share their knowledge, innovations and experiences around crucial themes such as:

  • An international platform for exchange ;
  • Integrated management of soil-water-sediment resources;
  • Nature-based solutions;
  • Digital technologies for monitoring and modeling; Strategies for sustainable remediation and rehabilitation of contaminated soils.

These exchanges were supported by five inspiring plenary sessions, over 160 oral presentations based around 150 posters and 23 professional stands, interactive workshops, pre-conference courses and technical excursions.

By all accounts, AquaConSoil 2025 was a real success, both scientifically and in terms of relationships. The event strengthened international collaborations, highlighted best practices and stimulated innovation in a field essential to the ecological transition.
