An eventful end of year for Waste2Bio

Waste2Bio closes 2025 with three events focusing on farmers, regenerative economic models and soil health. These events aim to strengthen synergies between players in the field, researchers, citizens and institutions committed to the ecological transition.

1- First meeting of the Farmers for Phytomanagement committee

This morning meeting will bring together farmers, landscape gardeners and green space developers interested in phytomanagement as a solution for managing wasteland or polluted farmland. The program includes a welcome breakfast, an overview of the issues at stake in Wallonia, a testimonial from a landscape architect involved in a pilot site, and a tour of the site. The aim is to co-construct a decision-support tool for players in the field, in collaboration with Valbiom, a partner in the event.

2- Business workshops Regenerative models for phytomanagement

In partnership with Wagralim, Waste2Bio is launching a series of three one-day workshops to imagine regenerative business models around three interconnected sectors: Biomass, Biodiversity Spaces, Agrivoltaics and Plant Factories. The aim of these workshops is to transform brownfields into levers for ecological, social and economic transition, by mobilizing plant-based solutions. Some 15 participants, selected for their key role in plant management, will work together to co-construct regenerative value chains. The same participants will be invited to all three workshops.

3- City Lab: Soil health - a crossroads between science, mediation and citizenship

In the run-up to World Soil Day (December 5), this morning of interdisciplinary reflection is organized by Waste2Bio, UNIC and Réjouisciences. It will bring together five speakers from the fields of research, mediation and citizen participation: Espace Environnement, iQSW citoyen, ASBL Hypothèses, Professor Gilles Colinet (ULiège) and artist Caroline Le Méhauté. Together, they will offer a cross-section of views on the challenges of soil quality and preservation, share innovative mediation tools and invite participants to imagine sustainable, collaborative actions.
