For Waste2Bio, the goal was to explore opportunities for collaboration with partners in Quebec and Ontario within the framework of Horizon Europe. More specifically, the aim was to build (or strengthen) institutional ties and meet researchers and/or companies working in the fields of environmental technologies and the production of bio-based materials.
Monday, April 20
Montreal: in the morning, a meeting with theSDC Central District, part of the Palme network to which BEP Namur belongs; a visit to the “Louvain” brownfield site where several seasonal projects are developed, such as meadows, shared parking, and housing for the homeless; and finally, a visit to the Echofab , which develops bio-inspired and circular projects.
In the afternoon, a meeting was held with the Société Québécoise de phytotechnologies ( ) at the IRBV, in the Montreal Botanical Garden, attended by several members of the SQP Board of Directors: Christian Duchesne, Daniel Boudreau, Joan Laur, and Patrick Benoist. A fruitful discussion took place regarding future collaborations: webinars, student and researcher exchanges, Horizon Europe projects…
Tuesday, April 21
Montreal: phytomanagement & biocontrol meeting at the University of Montreal followed by a visit to a phytomanagement demonstration site with Michel Labrecque (SQP).
Wednesday, April 22
Quebec City: meeting at INAF with researchers from the University of Laval’s and workshops on Horizon Europe projects. Presentation of the IIS.
Thursday, April 23
Toronto: Meeting at the Ontario Innovation and Trade Center (OITC) with the agri-food ecosystem, followed by a visit to the University of Toronto’s Biozone and discussions with researchers.
Friday, April 24
Guelph: Meeting with researchers at the University of Guelph’s to establish research collaborations, particularly regarding bio-based materials.
